Visit one of the most pristine places in Europe, Kolka, 160 km from Riga, with an experienced guide. Start your tour at the cash desk of the Riga central bus station. Buy tickets and start your adventure in a comfortable bus. The total road time in one direction is about 3.5 hours. Drive through Riga-town, then through the resort town of Jurmala. Observe modern rich and stylish villas, as well as wooden summer houses built before World War I. Then, drive through marvelous pine forests, along the sea shore, and past fishermen villages. Arrive in Kolka in a zen mood of serenity. Visit a local shop to buy food for lunch on the beach. Visit the History and Art Exhibition in the Livonian House. See the Lutheran and Russian-Orthodox churches from the outside. See Cape Kolka, which divides the waters of the Gulf of Riga and the open Baltic Sea. Walk along the Pine Track, where the pines are spiraled by permanent winds and remind those in coastal China or Japan. From the high dunes, use a strong binocular to see the coasts of the Estonian Saaremaa island, 37 km from Kolka on the other side of the strait. Watch birds in the national nature park.
